Braces

At iSmile, we offer a range of braces. For example, we offer the invisible Invisalign option. Your dentist analyses your teeth and creates a customised treatment plan. You’ll have beautiful, straight teeth in no time!

Transparent Invisalign braces

No one will know you are wearing braces, but you will still enjoy the benefits. Invisalign’s transparent aligners are virtually invisible. You will receive a new set of aligners regularly to gradually move your teeth in the right direction. These braces are suitable for teenagers and adults. Make an appointment for more information.

Brace treatment

Broadly speaking, brace treatments follow a similar process. During the initial consultation, we analyse your oral situation to determine which braces would be best for you. We then take impressions of your teeth and schedule a follow-up appointment.

Placement

We place your braces during the follow-up appointment. Invisalign is easy to fit: the dentist simply slides a custom-made plastic cover over your teeth.

Check-ups

To keep track of your braces treatment progress, you will have regular check-up appointments with the dentist. If you have Invisalign, you receive a new aligner; if you have block braces, the metal wire is tightened. On average, our patients visit us once a month or every two months.

Retention

Once your teeth are in the correct position, we move on to the retention phase. The dentist will fit you with a retainer or place a splint behind your teeth. This ensures that your teeth do not move back to their original position, but remain nice and straight.

Frequently asked questions about braces

Our dentist regularly receives questions about braces. The most common ones are listed below, along with the answers.

How much do braces cost?

The cost of treatment depends on:

  • The type of braces you need
  • The length of treatment
  • The position of your teeth
  • Your desired end result

Therefore, we cannot provide a general answer. However, you can get an estimate of the cost by arranging an appointment at our office. Call us on 020 218 4257 or register as a patient online.

Will the cost of braces be covered?

Basic insurance usually does not cover the cost of braces. Would you like to know if you are eligible for reimbursement or if you have additional insurance? If so, we advise you to contact your health insurer. They can provide more information about the terms and conditions of your policy regarding dental care and orthodontics.

Are invisible braces an option?

We are increasingly working with invisible braces from Invisalign. Whether this option is suitable for you depends on your oral situation. Transparent braces can almost always be used for small changes. Examples include crooked teeth, gaps between teeth, and teeth that are partially pushed together.

How long does treatment with braces take?

The duration of treatment varies. Some patients finish in a few months, while others take two years. During a consultation, your dentist will tell you how long your treatment will take. Generally, the more significant the required change, the longer the treatment will take.
