Cosmetic treatments

Cosmetic dentistry includes all treatments that are not medically necessary. You may choose aesthetic treatments if your teeth are discoloured or if small pieces have broken off. When your teeth are functional but not visually appealing, it can cause uncertainty. We use aesthetic dentistry to make your teeth whiter, straighter and more beautiful. We offer the following cosmetic treatments:

• Teeth whitening
• Veneers
• Crowns and bridges.

I’ve never been to see a dental hygienist before. Is it really necessary?

We generally recommend that patients visit the hygienist twice a year. At our dental practice, the dentist also carries out oral hygiene treatments. Therefore, you do not need to make a separate appointment for this.

What does an endodontist do?

A dentist who specialises in endodontology is called an endodontist. Endodontology deals with the inside of teeth. This refers to the core of teeth, also known as the root canal system. The living part of our teeth is called the pulp. Endodontists examine this inner part of teeth. They provide a prognosis and then develop a treatment plan to relieve the pain.

Teeth whitening

At iSmile Tandartspraktijk, we offer two methods of teeth whitening. We are happy to explain both methods to you.

External bleaching

The most commonly used method is external bleaching. First, we take an mould of your teeth. From this, we create a custom-made tray for you to use at home. You can also bleach your teeth at the practice. In the practice, we use higher concentrations of bleach to make your teeth up to twelve shades lighter in just one treatment.

Internal bleaching method

We use this method for teeth that have died. This can happen when the tooth receives a hard force, causing the tissue to die. This results in the tooth discolouring. We whiten dead teeth from the inside by opening them and applying a bleaching agent. The bleaching process takes several days. Once the desired results are achieved, we seal the tooth with a final filling.

Dental veneers

We use veneers to repair chipped and crooked teeth, as well as to whiten them. Veneers are small shields made of composite or porcelain. We place these over your teeth. We then file them into the correct shape.

Crowns and bridges

They are a solution for missing, discoloured or damaged teeth. By placing a crown or bridge, your dentist corrects the shape and colour of your teeth. Once the treatment is complete, you can enjoy a beautiful smile once again.
