Which sedatives do we use?

At iSmile Dental Practice, we use Dormicum, which is a sedative designed to help you relax during treatment. Dormicum ensures that you remain conscious but less aware of the procedure. This makes a visit to the dentist much more pleasant for people with anxiety.

How does Dormicum work?

The active ingredient in Dormicum is midazolam. This substance has a calming effect, helping you to feel more relaxed in the dentist’s chair. It reduces anxiety and relaxes your muscles. This allows you to undergo treatment with greater comfort and less tension.

Duration of effect: Dormicum starts to work between half an hour and an hour after ingestion. The effects then last for several hours, ensuring the drug remains effective throughout the entire treatment.

Reduced reaction and concentration ability

Driving after treatment with Dormicum is not permitted.

If you choose to be treated with Dormicum, you must not drive. This is because the medicine can make you feel drowsy, tired or sleepy. This reduces your ability to react, which can lead to dangerous situations on the road. Therefore, make sure someone accompanies you to take you home safely.

If you’re travelling by car, parking is available at Parking Bos en Lommerplantsoen or in the Mobypark – Zahia’s car park, both of which are a short walk from the practice.

If you’re arriving by bicycle, there is space with parking racks to safely park your bike right next to the entrance.

If you are travelling by public transport, take the tram or bus and get off at the Erasmusgracht or Bos en Lommerplein stop. From there, it is only a few minutes’ walk to the practice.

Our Lutmastraat location in Amsterdam-Zuid is also easy to reach.

If you’re driving, there are usually parking spaces close to the Lutmastraat entrance, so you never have to walk far.

If you’re arriving by bicycle, there are convenient bicycle racks on the other side of the street where you can park.

Both the De Pijp metro stop and the Cornelis Troostplein tram stop are within walking distance. This makes it quick and easy to travel to our practice from all parts of Amsterdam.
