Flap surgery
If you have periodontitis, the pockets around your teeth may be so deep that they cannot be reached effectively during a regular dental cleaning. This can result in plaque and tartar remaining, perpetuating the inflammation. In such cases, flap surgery may be necessary. During this procedure, the gum tissue is temporarily lifted to allow the pockets to be thoroughly cleaned.
