Do you need braces?

They’re not just for children and teenagers. Nowadays, many adults also choose orthodontic treatment to regain a confident smile. Maybe you’ve been bothered by an overbite or crooked teeth for a while. At iSmile, we work closely with you to determine which braces are best for your teeth and your needs. This way, you will receive honest advice from our orthodontist and know exactly where you stand.

What types of braces do we fit?

At iSmile, we offer a range of braces tailored to your teeth and preferences. One of our most popular options is the Invisalign brace. These are transparent, removable aligners that slide over your teeth and are virtually invisible. You wear the aligners day and night, but can easily remove them when eating or brushing your teeth. This makes Invisalign a comfortable and practical choice for young people and adults who want to straighten their teeth without the visibility of traditional braces.

Whether this type of brace is suitable for you depends on your oral situation. We can usually make minor changes with clear braces. Examples include crooked teeth, gaps between the teeth, and partially overlapping teeth.

After placement

Once your braces have been fitted, you will have regular check-ups to monitor your progress. If you have Invisalign, you will be given a new aligner; if you have braces, the wire will be tightened. These appointments are usually once a month or every two months. Once your teeth have reached the correct position, the retention phase will begin. You will then be given a retainer or splint to wear behind your teeth to keep them straight and maintain the results achieved.

How long does brace treatment take?

The duration of treatment varies. Some patients are finished in a few months, while for others it takes two years. During a consultation, your dentist will tell you how long your treatment will take. Generally, the greater the required change, the longer the treatment will take.

Cost of braces

The cost of braces treatment depends on the following:

  • The type of braces you need.
  • The duration of the treatment.
  • The position of your teeth.
  • Your desired end result.

We are therefore unable to provide a general answer. However, you can obtain an estimate if you visit us for an appointment. Call us on 020 – 218 42 57 or register as a patient online.

Reimbursement by your health insurance

Basic insurance usually does not cover the cost of braces. Would you like to know if you are eligible for reimbursement, or do you have supplementary insurance? If so, we recommend contacting your health insurer. They can provide more information about the terms and conditions of your policy in relation to dental care and orthodontics.
