Our periodontist specialises in treating gum disease, including inflammation and chronic bad breath. You do not need a referral from your dentist to make an appointment with a periodontist. As well as providing various treatments, he can advise on extensive dental procedures, such as periodontitis treatment. The periodontology department at iSmile Tandartspraktijk offers the following treatments:

Periodontitis
The first stage of gum inflammation is called gingivitis. If left untreated, it can progress to periodontitis. Periodontitis is a serious form of gum inflammation that can develop into a chronic condition. It affects the gums, teeth, and the bone surrounding the gums. The condition develops when bacteria cause inflammation in the gums. With periodontitis, the gums are often red and swollen, and bleed easily. Thoroughly brushing your teeth is very important to prevent periodontitis. Remember to brush your gums and tongue as well as your teeth.
Flap surgery
During flap surgery, we remove severely inflamed gums and clean your teeth. This removes all plaque and tartar from your teeth and can reduce inflammation. Read more about flap surgery here.
Gum correction
Do you avoid smiling broadly because you have receding gums? Gum correction may be the solution. We can also perform gum correction if you have excess gum tissue. This treatment involves transplanting or removing gum tissue. Read more about gum correction here.

Amsterdam West
One of our two iSmile Tandartspraktijk locations is located in the heart of Amsterdam West at Hoofdweg 576, 1055 AB. You can park your car at the nearby Parking Bos & Lommerplantsoen car park or in the Mobypark – Zahia’s car park next to the practice. Cyclists are welcome to use our own bicycle parking facility. Travelling by train? Get off at Amsterdam Sloterdijk and take the tram or bus to our stops near the practice:

The iSmile Tandartspraktijk is located on Lutmastraat in Amsterdam Zuid. There are bicycle racks across the street where you can park your bike. There are also plenty of parking spaces for cars in the street. If you are travelling to our practice by public transport, get off at Central Station. From there, take the tram or metro to reach our location.
